Mohamed M. Shams holds a B.Sc. in Engineering and Materials Science from the German University in Cairo (2019), and a M.Sc. in Molecular Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from Autonomous University of Madrid (2021). With his Bachelor degree, he joined the nanotechnology Department at Karlsruhe and Darmstadt universities in Germany where he carried out his thesis and internship on the synthesis and characterizations of high entropy alloys, and later did another short internship at KIT on inkjet printed electronics. After that, Shams did a short internship during his master on 2D materials and E-beam lithography at Instituto de Ciencia Molecular in Valencia, Spain. In addition to doing his master thesis at La Fundación Instituto Madrileño de Estudios Avanzados en Nanociencia (IMDEA) in Madrid, Spain working on characterization of single molecules using scanning tunnelling photon spectroscopy technique. After obtaining his M.Sc. degree, he worked for two years as a researcher in IMDEA on Hyperthermia for the treatment of cancer and Magneto-Optic Faraday Effect of colloidal magnetic nanoparticles suspension at room temperature. Shams joined IREC in Barcelona in 2024 and currently works in solid oxide fuel cells, 3D printing, and electrolyzers.
