PAPER RELEASE: Current trends in solid state ionics: Defect engineering and surface chemistry

This new proceedings-perspective draws on presentations and discussions from the “Solid State Ionics” symposium at the 2025 E-MRS Spring meeting. The paper highlights the latest progress in the field, summarizing talks, connecting emerging ideas and identifying key scientific challenges for future research.
