Kimberly Toala Escobar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) and obtained a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering with specialisation in Green Chemical Process Engineering, jointly completed at UPC and KTH (Royal Institute of Technology), where she conducted her thesis research on Carbon Capture and Utilization Technologies.
Following her studies, she worked as an R&D engineer, gaining experience in applied research on CO2 capture and sustainable process development. In 2025, she joined Catalan Institute For Energy Research (IREC) as a laboratory technician in the Nanoionics and Fuel Cell Group and now is pursuing a PhD focused on the development of electrodes for co-electrolyser technology for e-fuel generation.
