Antonio Maria Asensio is a Chemist with a dedicated academic background and expertise in Electrochemistry and Solid Oxide Cells. Holding an M.Sc. in Electrochemistry from the University of Barcelona and a recently completed PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Genova, his research (2019-2023) primarily focused on the development of materials for Solid Oxide Cells and understanding the oxygen electrode kinetics.

He joined the Catalonia Institute for Energy Research in April 2023. In his current role, he is actively involved in research and development efforts aimed at achieving efficient and sustainable hydrogen generation through solid oxide electrolysis technology. By leveraging his expertise in materials science and engineering, he strives to contribute to the optimization and implementation of solid oxide electrolyzers for clean hydrogen production.
